From the NY Times....Information about Big Sur Area in California Today Section
posted about 4 years ago by CERV from Community Emergency Response Volunteers of the Monterey Peninsula
The NY Times article says.... - "Crews inspected the damaged Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge on Highway 1 in Big Sur last week. Officials said it would have to be replaced. - Many businesses in the coastal community of Big Sur have been effectively cut off from the rest of civilization. - Winter storms unleashed mudslides and crippled the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge, forcing the closing of a roughly 60-mile stretch of Highway 1. - Setting aside the cost to repair the highway, the stranding has been devastating to an economy reliant on visitors."
There is a fund me campaign for the New Camaldoli Hermitage mentioned as well.
