The Monterey Co. Office of Emergency Services has been working with many other public agencies and community organizations to mitigate the recent wildfire affecting the Tasajarra/Cachagua area. The 1,200-acre Tassajara fire is reportedly only 10 percent contained this morning. (Sunday) Authorities have announced a mandatory evacuation for the Parrot Ranch area.

For its quarterly drill, Monterey, PG, and Carmel CERT will practice using new equipment purchased for CERT containers. CERV of the Monterey Peninsula matched neighborhood efforts to raise money for 11 CERT containers. Training in the use of equipment by volunteer first responders is key to building community resilience.
