Community Homeless Solutions
In 1978 Community Homeless Solutions opened the first domestic violence shelter in Monterey County (and one of the first 100 DV shelters in the nation) and has since expanded to provide a continuum of services for homeless families and individuals, including a second DV shelter, two homelessness navigation centers, a respite center, a youth housing project, programs for the displaced (e.g., Pajaro) and our Permanent Supportive Housing community of units in Marina, CA. To better reflect our growing scope, we have updated our mission statement: To house, empower, and rejuvenate those facing the rigors of homelessness, displacement, and domestic violence. In the last fiscal year, in addition to the individuals and families in our PSH and youth housing units, we provided 43,452 bed sleeps to over 1,140 clients at our shelter sites. We operate with federal, state, county and city contracts, in addition to philanthropic, individual, and corporate funding.
