Cautionary Advisory on downed power lines - February 17, 2017

The County of Monterey has widespread reports of wires down. Local PG&E and fire departments are aware and will respond as units become available. If you see wires down, or on the ground, assume they are energized. Do not approach, leave the area and notify 911.

We've had a nice response to the request for generators. A few more are needed but, as always, folks on this site find a way to solve problems so we know we have 3 so far. Big shout out to the individuals AND communities who find ways to help.

Public Works crews have delivered 2,000 sandbags for those in the Soberanes fire scar. Sandbags are located on Palo Colorado Road at the fire station, the Hoist and Botchers Gap and on Garrapatos Road at the Glen Deven ranch.

Wildfires continue to burn in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties

The Loma Prieta Fire has burned more than 2, 250 acres, is 10% contained, and is expected to burn until October 3 (Cal Fire).

The Soberanes Fire has burned close to 129,000 acres, is 89% contained. Estimated Containment is Frieday, September 30th, 2016.

SBA Outreach Center closes in Seaside Today at 5 p.m.. See previous post. Palo Colorado Community can meet with reps Saturday.
